How can I
find out how much my salary increase will be each year?
Article 12
of the AAUP/UC contract establishes the minimum salary
that any full-time professor or librarian of a particular
rank must earn. There is no maximum salary. (This article
does not apply, however, to part-time faculty or to
clinical faculty in the College of Medicine.)
Article
10.1 of the AAUP/UC contract establishes the negotiated
salary increase that every bargaining unit member
must receive, regardless of title. Other sections of Article
10 may contain additional provisions affecting compensation
(e.g., bonus pay, merit pay, promotional increase).
Who is
eligible for an Article 15 salary increase? How do I file
for one?
Article 15
adjustments allow the UC to give additional salary increases
to correct inequities, reward outstanding performance, or
match outside offers. Any faculty member may request an
Article 15 adjustment in writing to the academic unit head.
The approval process follows the standard “chain of command”
(unit head, dean, provost), but these adjustments are
strictly an administrative prerogative: there are no
contractually established criteria for awarding an Article
15 adjustment.
How many
vacation days do I accrue each year?
Faculty
members who have “standard,” three-quarter appointments
(Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters) do not accrue vacation
days, but are on vacation during the summer and at other
times when school is not in session per the official
University academic calendar.
Per Article
19.3 of the AAUP/UC contract, faculty members on four
quarter appointments accrue vacation leave at the rate of
1-5/6 days for each month worked. Vacation time may be
accrued from year to year up to a maximum of 66 days.
Librarians
on 10 month appointments and part-time librarians who are
part of the bargaining unit accrue vacation time at a rate
proportional to the formula stated above.
See Article
19.3 for more details on four quarter appointments and
accrual of vacation time.
