RETIREMENT WORKSHOPS

November 28 and December 6

Article 18.3 of the 2004 – 2007 UC/AAUP Contract calls for “The AAUP and University Human Resources (to) jointly sponsor a Retirement Exit Seminar annually.  Topics will include: Health care options, and other benefits such as parking, use of library, and bookstore discounts.”  Therefore, as we have done over the last several years, the AAUP and the Human Resources Service Center have cooperated in planning retirement workshops for this year.  The first workshop will be held on Monday, November 28, 2005 from 9 to 11 am in University Hall 454.  For those who can’t make that session, it will be repeated on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in University Hall 454.

Main presentations at the workshops will be by Deborah deGroot-Osswald, Assistant Director of Benefits, and Cory Lehr, Director of Compliance and Administration, and will include information regarding tax considerations and related issues.  The AAUP, the Human Resources Service Center, and TIAA-CREF will have representatives there to answer questions.  We hope to make these sessions useful both to those who have already decided to retire as well as to those who are contemplating retirement.

CHAPTER MEETING

Thursday, November 10th @ 12:30 p.m.

The UC Chapter AAUP will hold its second regular meeting of the academic year on Thursday, November 10, 2005 beginning at 12:30 P.M. on the second floor of the Faculty Club.  Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP to the AAUP Office at 556-6861 (or via email at aaupuc1@email.uc.edu) no later than Tuesday, November 8^th.  Highlights of the meeting will include introduction of new AAUP Executive Director Debby Herman and reports of the Joint Benefits Committee and the Joint Salary Committee.
